Check it out! Colusa County Free Library Announces Temporary Adjustments to Branch Hours and Programs

By Stacey Zwald Costello, Library Director

In an effort to provide consistent and reliable service across all seven branches while a new Circulation Librarian is hired and trained, the Colusa County Free Library will implement temporary adjustments to branch hours and program schedules starting March 1,2026. With only seven staff members, the Colusa County Free Library team manages not only open hours and programs, but also cataloguing materials, administrative tasks, and other essential behind-the-scenes work that often goes unseen. These temporary schedule and program adjustments are designed to ensure that core services remain available, to limit unexpected closures, and to provide patrons with dependable access to library resources.

The library team is committed to meeting community needs while balancing the realities of staffing.

Updated Branch Hours, March through May: Arbuckle, Monday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday noon to 5 p.m.; Colusa, Monday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday closed, Thursday noon to 7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Grimes, Thursday 2:30 to 5 p.m.; Maxwell, Tuesday noon to 6 p.m.; Princeton, Wednesday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Stonyford, Wednesday 2 to 6 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Williams, Tuesday 1 to 6 p.m., Wednesday 1 to 6 p.m., Thursday closed.

These temporary changes allow staff to maintain a consistent presence at each branch while completing critical tasks that support library operations and patron services.

The Colusa County Free Library is grateful to patrons for their understanding and support during this temporary adjustment period. Patrons are encouraged to check individual branch hours and program schedules on the library website or by calling their local branch.
