Pray If You Want

I believe in the power of prayer. Moreover, I believe in prayer and action. God wants us to rely on Him, but He has also blessed us with free will.

So, whenever I’m challenged, my first instinct is to pray for guidance. Guidance to know what to do. Guidance to wait for God to show me the correct path.

Pray if you want but be open to waiting for the answer. Keep in mind if God’s answer is no, there is a reason. We are sometimes protected when we aren’t even aware it’s happening. Time will tell. Looking back, we will have that aha moment and understand.

Yesterday I drove to Dickinson, ND. Driving through the Badlands I was once again reminded how blessed I am to call this home. On the drive home I saw a coyote cross the interstate. Honestly, it was the first time in 40 years I have seen one of the critters so close to civilization.

Years ago, when I lived in rural Grimes, CA at our family farm I saw a coyote cross our orchard. I heard plenty of them howling in the night.

I realize the similarities of country living no matter where you live. I consider getting to live prime time in both North Dakota and rural California a blessing.

I was reminded before I headed back to ND this time that I would miss a highlight of the year in Grimes (my hometown). November 1 the annual Ladies Aide Dinner and Bazaar will be held at Grand Island School. It’s always the best dinner of the year and a time to visit with folks countywide. I have a lot of good memories of attending this event with friends and family.

I’m sorry to miss it.

But here we are back in North Dakota and anticipating the holiday season, gatherings and celebrations here.

Life of good today.
