There are some places that beckon us with a promise of peace, and a sense of calm.
This week as we remember our fathers Tom and I are in one such place.
We have a favorite riverside cabin we visit each year in Cardwell, Montana.
Rocky dogs are welcome here also. He’s a runner in nature so he has to go out on a leash. This part of the river is shallow, but it is swiftly moving. I’m pretty sure Rocky would move through the water like a rubber raft. Best to keep control of him.
It’s been a couple of welcomed peaceful days here.
My folks both loved to travel. I think I inherited the road trip bug from the two of them. I love road trips. I much prefer driving myself to being at the mercy of the airlines. If the ocean doesn’t separate me from my destination you can count on me driving.
Now that we have a second place in California, I suspect I’ll be on the road as much as I can for as long as I can.
I look at my life and feel very blessed. I’m loved by those who matter.
I’ve had decent health as I age. I have noticed changes and new challenges, but I think that’s part of the deal. The Lord has a plan for all of us. I just heard a quote stating that there is a better version of ourselves around each corner. I’m praying I keep turning corners and finding a better and better version of me.
Meanwhile I have one more day here at the cabin by the river. God has a way of showing us His handiwork. All I need to do is look around me here and know life is planned and life is good today.
