Thankfully we have had a lot of rain this past week in North Dakota.
As much as I hate driving in heavy rain like I had to do more than once during the week, the reward is great.
Now our Badlands and our ranch and farmlands are lush, green and beautiful. On my drive along the interstate yesterday I saw a number of bison happily grazing just inside the fence. Further down the highway I spotted a lone antelope atop a hill. He looked as if he was just taking in the beauty of the lands.
We are blessed here to have wildlife and the domestic herds. It’s wonderful to see the cycle of life in spring when the babies are born.
The mama’s and the babies nestled in the now green pastures has a way of making us appreciate what God has given to us.
We may not appreciate the inconvenience of heavy rain, but the results are a gift of nourishment for our land.
I grew up in Colusa County, California.
Admittedly I didn’t appreciate it then as I do now. Whenever I am there now, I see the beauty of it all.
This year we will visit in the fall. Again, it is one of my favorite times of the year no matter where I am.
Life is good today.
