And the Winner Is

I’ve been a faithful follower of the music competition show American Idol from its beginning.

Often, I’ve picked the winner.

I’m bold enough to go on record for this year picking Louisiana Cowboy John Foster as this year’s winner. If I’m wrong so be it. But I see this young man as the total package. Looks, faith, talent. The kid just has the makings of a star.

Of course, one year I was wrong. I was certain Bo Bice would win over country singer Carrie Underwood. I’m pretty sure I was wrong considering the now mega star is a judge on the show.

Last year Tom and I went to a concert featuring past winner and past runner-up Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken.  It was wonderful. Older now, the two singers are still fabulous.

The show itself has become a launching pad of huge stars; Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, and Adam Lambert to name a few. Ironically none of them won the top prize. They just made themselves known.

I admire people with talent. As a kid I wanted to sing. Sadly I didn’t have a singing voice.

God chose for me to be vocal through the written word. I am grateful for that gift. It has brought to me a joy I never knew was there.

There are times when sitting and writing brings me a sense of peace.

I encourage all people to journal daily. Try it. You’ll see a difference in your day.

Life is good today.
