What’s in the purse?

I’ve been watching the mini-series “The Crown.”
I noticed that Queen Elizabeth never left her quarters without her purse. She took if from room to room in the Palace.
It made me wonder what was in the purse. You never see her open it. She just carried it and set it down near herself.
It also reminded me of one of my sister and my favorite Mother stories.
We were on a cross-country trip in our trusty station wagon. Out in the middle of nowhere nature called. Daddy pulled over by a bridge and suggested we take shelter there to do our business.
Mother got out of the car to take us to the bridge, but as she did so she took her purse, hooked it around her arm and led her girls to the bridge.
We always wondered why she took her purse.
Why do we do half the stuff we do?
I made some progress this week. I got rid of the walking boot and moved to a regular shoe and cane. It’s still not perfect but it feels as if it was a step forward. I’ve learned a lot about ankle damage and the healing process. I had no idea it was going to go on for this long. I’m in week 14 post surgery now. Literally it’s taking consecutive baby steps to heal. It’s still an ordeal to do much of anything.
Yet when I’m feeling sorry for poor me, I’m reminded my condition is temporary and someday it will get easier.
There are a lot of things I want to do. I just have to keep trying.
I’m not willing to sit down and do nothing.
It’s going to hurt until it doesn’t, I guess.
This is a happy week though. Beautiful granddaughter Latrice celebrates her 17th birthday. Aah, what I wouldn’t give to be 17 again. Nah, I had my turn.
Life is good today.
