Try It. . .

More than 20 years ago I was a newspaper reporter in Colusa, Ca.

About that time there started to be gang-related tagging on public buildings.

We were told not to publish photos of the tags as to avoid giving advertising to the so-called artists.

That made sense to me at the time.

Today, we see repeated news reports of protestors and the like aired multiple times a day.

If I thought for a minute the protests were valid and not organized and funded by a darker side I might have a little empathy. Really; who paid for matching shirts for protesters in Trump Tower?

However, remember I’m a child of the 60’s and I lived through a time of multiple protests.

Those were some rough days too.  Movements of the 1960s captured attention and raised questions that were important to the nation. The civil rights movement, the women’s movement, and the gay rights movement demanded that Americans consider equality for all citizens of the United States.

The key words are consider equality for all American citizens.

We also repeatedly witnessed protests against the Vietnam War. That was the beginning of protestors running amok attacking our own.

No one it seems was in favor of that conflict, but sadly it carried over to a disgraceful display against our own soldiers.

These days we are spoon-fed the notion that non-American citizens, some here illegally, be granted the same rights as bona fide American citizens.

I’m frustrated with the daily updates of who said what ugly thing about which person in government.

As I have always said; we have the freedom to disapprove of presidential actions but we do not have the right to disrespect the office.

I recommend we all pull up our big girl panties and learn to work together for the betterment of our Nation.

My message to anyone who professes a hatred for our country is to leave.

I keep praying we can renew the cooperation among us.

Let us once again pull together. Stop the bickering, the public displays of hatred, pettiness and self ambition.

It’s time to be One Nation under God.

By the way, my dad always told me that to use bad language in public only accomplished two things. “The only things you accomplish in using bad language is to disrespect those around you and disrespect yourself,” he said.

If everyone would focus on what is good and toss away the hatred we’d have a better world.

Try it, you might like it.

Life can be good today.
