For years I have periodically rewatched the movie Forrest Gump.
The simplicity of the wisdom shared there is a benefit to all who listen to it.
Now I hear there will be a sequel film Forrest Gump2 coming in 2025. That pleases me.
In our world today I think revisiting Forrest and his son will be a welcome change. As always, my favorite quote from the film is; “Stupid is as stupid does,” Mama always says. Mama was a wise woman.
The New Year is here. I always view it as a time of renewal, change and hope.
I don’t make resolutions, but I do set goals. To my surprise my first goal in 2025 is to learn again to walk on my own.
We never know what the year will bring.
I’m certainly not where I planned to be now. I’ve often been teased by family and friends because I walk at a fast pace. I’m usually in the lead.
If you read this column, you know I believe God has a plan for each of us. I’m interested to see what I will do going into the year with a broken ankle.
I’ve always prided myself on doing things on my own and for myself. Humility and acceptance of help from others is harder for some of us. Yet, I’m continually blessed by people willing to tolerate me.
Former President Jimmy Carter passed last week. He lived a rich, full, 100-year life filled with faith, compassion and genuine care for all of us. I wish more of our leaders would put the nation and its people first instead of fighting amongst themselves.
It’s time to focus more on nation and unity more than political party.
Broken as I am, I am still reaping rewards, being blessed with daily healing and learning more.
Life is good today.
Happy New Year! Let’s go out there and see what we can do.
