That’ll Leave a Mark. . .

Well, that’s just dandy!  Combine really icy streets with a 76-year-old woman and what do you get?   A fall resulting in a dislocated ankle.

My take charge personality has within just a second turned into one that must accept help with everything. Apparently, I’m going to be laid up for the duration.

It takes a village.

I am building an army of people who helped and continue to help me.

So many people have helped me. Starting with Beach Public Works manager Randy Dietz who literally picked me up off the ice and drove me to the clinic. The women at the clinic are rockstars, as are the Beach Ambulance crew. Thanks for the immediate care and smooth ride to Dickinson.

I’m forever thankful for my own guardian angel Scott Trotter who has continually stepped up to do whatever was needed.   As always, my own kids and the crew showed up to get me into the house and to bring medical assistance devices. Thank you so much; velvet, Tiffany, Becky and Val, Scott and Aaron Rojic, Tom and Pam Littlecreek, Jodi Ebel and Robin Richards. Of course, my husband Tom continues to care for me.

As miserable as this is right now, I am feeling more than blessed by the outpouring of love and random kindnesses.

There will be surgery in the near future so my dependence on others is likely to continue for a while. Known to my friends as the director it’s going to be hard not being in control.

There are moments when I feel sorry for myself. But there are far more people far worse off than me. God is good and I will survive.

Even as it is; Life is good today.
