Homeward

It’s been a long hard journey but I’m homeward bound.

Sadly I’ve been sick most of the trip.

I accomplished what I set out to do. I made a promise to Aunt Betty that I would be there and I would conduct her service. Betty never let me down and I was determined to keep my promise to her. I did.

I was blessed to have time with my family. I was blessed that my forever friend Deb provided a place at her house for me to recuperate.

I had a big old birthday during my time in California. Friends Deb and Connie hosted me to dinner at the Cattlemen’s. The best part was time with them. Our times  together, once frequent, are now few and far between.

As we age it becomes more apparent what is truly important.

We need to appreciate one another. We need to help where we can and we need to show appreciation when kindness is shared with us. The old hymn “Pass it On” says it best.

“It only takes a spark to get a fire going.

And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing

That’s how it is with God’s love.

Once you’ve experienced it
You spread your love to everyone
You want to pass it on.”  Author: Kurt Kaiser (1969)

As Thanksgiving approaches let’s remember to pass it on.

Life is good today.
