t’s that time again. Tomorrow, I head to California for my annual girls trip.
It’ll be another adventure with pals Sue, Deb, and Connie. We’ve been friends since high school and that was many years ago.
Another high school friend, Bobby, recently said, “Remember yesterday when we were young?” It seems like it, but the reality is not that at all. All the same, we are blessed to have shared this journey together.
I’ve spent the last few days packing and sorting. Today, I’ll load my car and tomorrow I’ll be back on the road again.
Gotta love it.
Not everyone understands the joy of a solo road trip. My two daughters get it. They are just like their mother when it comes to setting out on their own.
I graduated from Pierce Joint Union High School in 1966. It was a small class of just over 40 graduates. Most are still with us, but by my count, seven are gone. That is kind of scary odds when you think about it.
I admit I hover a bit and try to keep in touch.
Friend Herb once told me I am the mother of them all. He may have been right. Sadly Herb is gone but I took the time to see him before he went. It was time well spent.
We need to remember our friends and family. Don’t let them slip away unnoticed.
I’m excited to see my friends and family. It will be time well spent for sure.
Life is good today. ■
