Life is good: Love it or hate it…

The annual lutefisk and meatball event was today.

Lutefisk is an acquired taste at best. It’s a Norwegian dish: Lingcod prepared in several stages including soaking in lye and cold water before cooking. It is served up with lots of melted butter and salt and pepper. It kind of jiggles on the plate.

Tom’s first try today was a winner. He loved it. I took a tiny taste just to assure myself I still hate it. I do.

The meatballs are always delicious. We also had fresh warm lefse (potato flatbread). It’s definitely a winner.

North Dakota has introduced me to many delicious Scandinavian foods. I can say it doesn’t include many low carb/low sugar options. It’s delicious nonetheless; maybe excluding lutefisk.

It’s all in the taste of the diner though.

Yesterday, I watched grandson Kohen’s team compete in a basketball tournament. I’m kind of blown away by the talent of these fourth grade players. I love basketball. It’s great to watch these kids improve with each season. If they are this good now, I can only imagine what their high school years will bring.

Speaking of high school, I’ll soon attend a high school reunion. We will celebrate classes 19?? to 1966. My class was 66, so for the first time in a very long time, I’ll be among the youngest in the group.

The older we get, the more important these gatherings become.

Life is good today.■
