Life is good: Snowbirds

In past years, we’ve always toughed it out and wintered in our beloved subzero North Dakota. This year is our first year as snowbirds.

We lucked out with overall clear weather and good roads on our journey to Southern California early in January. We had a few glitches, but we made it without any major incidents.

Now, for the past few days, we’ve been enjoying walks by the ocean, dining on delicious seafood, and relishing the 65 degree temperatures. We’ll be in beautiful Oceanside for a month.

Tom did some pier fishing today. No bites, but still great fun. His family spent summers here when he was a child, so there are many memories for him here.

We have a cozy little Airbnb for the month. Our hostess, Brooke, lives with her big old dog Lemmy in the connecting unit. There’s a big fenced-in backyard where Lemmy and Rocky can play. Amazingly, Rocky is a great traveler and his manners are far better than at home.

Our trip here was almost uneventful. One mishap was at a hotel, where someone stole our DoorDash food delivery before we opened the door to retrieve it. Who does that? Apparently, it happens more often than you’d expect. The moral is, be watchful when waiting for the delivery.

DoorDash refunded our money, sent more food, and even gave us a $10 credit for our inconvenience. It’s all good.

Life is good today.
