Life is good: Can’t have it all

As much as I love being back in North Dakota, there are events I miss in California.

As I write, today is the annual Arbuckle Car Show. It is an amazing show for a small town. It’s a job well done by its organizers.

Also coming up is the annual Grimes Ladies Aide dinner. I really miss that one. It’s one of the best dinners of the season.

Both events have appeal, but the main appeal is the crowd. We were always guaranteed to see old friends.

As I get older, I am reminded of people and things I thought would always be there.

Some events continue and that is a blessing. Sadly, some people are gone.

It’s hard to admit, but I’m in the zone. I’ve lost a lot of friends my age or younger in the past few years.

The best we can do though is cherish every moment. Appreciate the time, people, and events we still have.

I’ve learned the hard way that we should never take for granted the moments we are given.

Tom and I both lost our former spouses without warning. Both were young and both suffered unexpected illness.

It’s hard to understand.

Yet, when it happens we find strength to carry on.

God has blessed us with that strength.

Life is good today.
