The leaves are changing, and the air is crisp. Fall is here in North Dakota.
It’s my favorite time of year.
I like the cozy feeling of it all. I also like winter clothes better than summer ones but that’s a chubby girl thing.
This week, we will gather to officially welcome Sami into the Craigo Clan. She and son Val were married in September. We are so happy she, Gage, Aubree, and Bodhi are a part of us.
It’s basketball season for grandson Kohen. His team is doing great and they are fun to watch. I hope they continue to play together through high school. They have the potential of a powerhouse team.
Halloween is almost here. There are pumpkins around, so it must be time to start prepping them for Thanksgiving pie. I’m not a fan of anything pumpkin, but I do make a pretty good pie. They are especially good when you start with fresh cooked pumpkin in place of the canned stuff. You can find directions at www.cooklikema.com.
We’ve been eating low-carb, low sugar, so the holiday season will be a challenge for us. I admit that while in Scotland, we ate our fair share of ‘lovely cake’ but I’ve done better since being home. I’ve met my first weight loss goal, and now I’m working on the second. Sadly, most holidays revolve around food. It’s going to be tough.
The key is to keep moving. I’m walking every day. I’m not anywhere near the number of steps we took sightseeing, but I’m moving.
All is good. Fall is here and I’m happy.
Life is good today. ■
