Life, as I See it… (01/13/2021)

Now what ???

Usually the first thing I do on Sunday morning is write this column. Today, as I write, it is afternoon. Still, I just dont know what think, say, or write.

Not since Columbine, the Twin Towers coming down, the Oklahoma bombings or any of the other tragedies to befall the United States have I been as overwhelmed as I have been this past week.

I am so ashamed to have seen the hordes of Americans set on destroying what we grew up most respecting. I dont care who you are, I dont care how right you think you are, what happened this past week was a disgrace to our country and to the many that came before us to build this great nation.

It made me cry.

It breaks my heart.

Last week, I wrote about the promise of a new year. Although I feel a bit defeated today, I continue to pray, to believe, and cling to the promises our faith provides.

This is The United States of America, and its time to remember the principles upon which it was built. Its time to respect one another.

By the way, I am not a Republican, I am not a Democrat. I am neither conservative nor liberal. I am an independent American who believes we need to be what our name implies: United.

Can we do that? I pray that we can.

Meanwhile, here in Beach, ND, we have lost two beloved community members and friends. Both Walter Rojic and Ken Westrum completed their journeys here on earth. Both were kind men, loved by a lot of us. They both lived well into their 90s. What good, full lives they lived.

Bless them and their families.

Lets try to do better with our own lives.

As troubled as I am today, I still believe life is good today. Gods got this. ™£
