Maria Silva Carrancho (also known as Mary) age 93 passed away on April 28, 2020, in Yuba City. Born in Gafana da Boa Vista, Portugal on September 3, 1926, to Augusto and Esperanca Gregorio.
She married at age 15 on December 7, 1941 (coming out of church war was announced) Mary came to America in 194 7, first living in Turlock with husband and moving to Maxwell in 1948 where she resided with husband, Joe and sons Joe and Tony. Her husband passed away in 1975. She was a hard working women who loved to cook and always had an open home and enjoyed feeding anyone who came to visit.
Many will remember her pumpkin waffles, pumpkin fritters, fresh homemade bread, biscotti and rice with duck.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, Joe; parents Augusto and Esperanca Gregorio and brother, Antonio Gregorio.
Mary will be deeply missed by sons Joe (Maria), Tony (Anna); grandchildren Tina Espinoza (Tony), Cheryl Guzman (Lupe), Anthony Carrancho (Shannon),Rosemary Harless (Kevin); great grandchildren Jalissa Espinoza Figueroa (Yosa), Allesandra Guzman, Adrian Guzman, Aricka Espinoza, Charlie Carrancho, Barrett Carrancho; Zoey Harless, McKaeven Harless; great great grandchildren twins Hazel and Hallie Figueroa, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Lusa-American Financial, Portuguese Fraternal Society of America, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 219, and Sacred Heart Sodality.
Due to Covid 19 services were private. The family is planning on a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Maxwell Cemetery Beautification, PO Box 201, Maxwell, California 95955 or charity of choice. –
