Michael Day Lucero known as Mikey was born in Chico California on January 21, 2006 to his loving parents, Arturo and Amy Lucero. He was born with a rare genetic condition called Lissencephaly and his prognosis was bleak – so the Dr’s said. Mikey moved with his family from Colusa to Woodland in 2008 where he attended Greengate School, a Yolo County special education program, until his 20th year.
Mikey enjoyed his life and it showed through his smile. Always smiling. He has reputation of being a fighter and an inspiration because he would get sick often and miraculously get better, even the Dr’s were stunned. He was nothing but a miracle boy. He had a thrive for life that was so special and envied by others.
Mikey loved all things bright and colorful. He enjoyed banging on drums, tapping the piano keys, or strumming a guitar. He had an absolute love for music, fireworks, birthday candles, Disneyland and swimming. Most of all, he had a gift of bringing people together; an infectious smile that touched the many people who met him. He is very loved and cherished.
In Mikey’s remembrance, take a moment each day and smile at one another – bring joy to someone with a simple act of kindness – a smile.
