Burt was born on November 1, 1946, in Colusa, CA to Bryan Jansen and Lorene (White) Wood and passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Burt grew up in Colusa County and after high school he attended Modesto Jr. college, before taking a position with Helena Chemicals in Woodland. He met the mother of his 4 children and moved his young family to Arbuckle in 1976.
He began farming rice, tomatoes and corn and did so for many years. After leaving farming, he started a new career driving truck across the United States. He enjoyed all the places he got to visit and the random people he met along the way. He eventually returned to his roots and stayed local, driving for Sierra Pacific in Northern CA.
He retired in 2010 and lived a quiet life with his partner, Margo Glendenning in Cool, CA. He spent his days playing golf, fishing & frequenting the local joints for a beer. He was a great storyteller and had many to share, was always the life of the party and lived life to the fullest!
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Loran (Nibs) Jansen. He is survived by his stepmother Evelyn (Charter) Jansen, sisters, Jan (Tom) Cullen of Albuquerque, NM, Marie Willow of Grimes, CA brother Pete (Sandy) Jansen, Millford, CA, his sons, Bryan (Chris) Fusaro of Maxwell, BJ (Janis) Jansen of Gridley. His daughters, Jamie (Mike) Wilder of Live Oak, Jennifer Jansen of Bryan, TX, Johnna Artero of Durham, CA, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grand-children and many nieces and nephews.
We invite all who would like to join in celebrating Burtis’ life and sharing stories on November 19, 2023, to a reception from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at: Rocco’s Banquet Hall 538 Main Street, Colusa, CA 95932.
