Fredrick “Fritz” Hamilton Grimmer, of Arbuckle CA, passed away, peacefully at home, on October 25, 2024, three weeks shy of his 87th birthday.
Fritz was born November 14, 1937, to parents Charles and Nelle Grimmer in Arbuckle California. Fritz married Betty Lou Morris, the love of his life, in 1957 and they had three children –Matthew, Laurie & Charles “Chuck”. They lived in Arbuckle for their entire marriage. Fritz worked in the Agricultural industry before he started farming on his own as Cortina Farms. He started with 17 leased acres of sugar beets. He was a Holly sugar beet grower for over 35 years and a Blue Diamond Almond grower for over 40 years. He was a founding member of both Colusa County Farm Supply and Cortina Hulling and Shelling. He was a member of the Freemasons, Colusa County Sheriff Posey and National Farmers organization. He was also an Elder of his church for many years.
He was a born farmer, and he was lucky enough to do what he loved. He greatly enjoyed going hunting with friends and in his younger years enjoyed time with his horses. Fritz and Betty Lou were avid travelers but especially loved spending time at their cabin in Warner Valley with family and friends. Later in his life he enjoyded sitting on his front porch watching the birds and being entertained by his dogs.
He was preceded in death by parents Charles “Coach” and Nelle Grimmer, brother Charles “Jack” Grimmer and sister in law Josephine Grimmer. He is survived by his wife Betty Lou, sister Gail (Jerry) Bailey, children Matthew (Janet) Grimmer, Laurie Hetherington and Chuck (Mary) Grimmer. Grandchildren Ryan (Lui) Grimmer, Jessica (John) Carlson, Dustin Hetherington and Josh (Rhiannon) Hetherington, Gabe, Michael, Garrett, Grant, and Keith Grimmer. Step Grandchildren Jacob, Cody and Ross Miller. And six great granddaughters: Hannah, Juli, Hazlie and Sage Grimmer, Faith and Felicity Carlson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday November 9th at the Arbuckle Community Church, 700 Hillgate Rd Arbuckle. Followed by lunch at the Arbuckle Fire Department.
A pillar of the community, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
