Braden “Brady” Phillip Myers passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on April 29, 1958 in Redding, California to Ron and Linda Myers.
In 1964, Brady and his family moved to Colusa, attending the local schools and participating in community programs and events. Brady was a phenomenal athlete, recognized as Athlete of the Year for the graduating class of 1976. Brady attended Menlo College on a basketball and golf scholarship before moving onto Fresno State to continue his passion of golf and finance. One of his many golf highlights was when he won the 1981 Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Championship earning him Honors for the Division 1 All American team.
Following graduation, Brady played on the mini tours for many years before coming back to be in the insurance industry. In 1985, Brady married his lifetime partner, Jamie, and welcomed their daughter, Mattison, in 1995. Mattie was the light of his life and he enjoyed teaching her to hunt, play sports, be quick-witted, and watching her succeed.
He spent his life serving his passions of the community of Colusa. Brady’s commitment to the community was known widely throughout, as he was instrumental in helping the community purchase the hospital to keep doors open. He was recognized in 2011 by the State Hospital Board for his leadership and efforts in saving the hospital from bankruptcy and closure. He was also the head coach of the boys’ basketball team at Colusa High School, a long-time member of the Colusa Golf and Country Club, and served as the President of the Colusa Rotary Club in 1997-1998.
Brady held a presence on the course, having a passion for teaching others his skills, not only in the game of golf, but in sports, business, and more. He enjoyed celebrating and conversing with those around him and welcomed people with open arms. He will be long remembered for his game, his wealth of knowledge and charismatic presence.
Brady is survived by his daugh-ter, Mattie Steinhoff (Thomas), sister, Kelly (Tony) Lawson, brothers, Randy (Stephanie) and Kevin (Marie) Myers, nephews, Walker, Brett and Sheldon, and nieces, Shayne, Mallory and Jamie, as well as many cousins, family members and friends. His family is in peace knowing that he has joined his own mother, father, and many dear friends in heaven.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Colusa Golf and Country Club.
