Mildred (Radonich) High

2/23/1934 – 7/18/2023

Mildred (Radonich) High passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023 surrounded by family. Millie was born in Sacramento on February 23, 1934 to George and Milka Radonich. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1951. Millie went on to Dominican College in San Rafael, graduating with her bachelors’ degree in Early Childhood Education 1955.

Millie’s college years were some of her favorite times to recount. It was on Dominican’s campus that she met lifelong friends who introduced her to the glamour of nearby San Francisco with its exciting nightclubs, and fancy Manhattan cocktails. She was convinced city life was for her. But then came the Dominican College/Santa Clara University dance and she fell hard for a tall, dark and handsome farmer. Paul High (d. 2002) of Grimes, California convinced her that life in a small town surrounded by honest, caring people would be a fair trade for city life. She was skeptical but deeply in love. They married June 30 1957 and settled into the Grimes community where they established meaningful and enduring friendships as they raised 5 children, Jeff High, Barbara Daly (Tim), Judy Coldani, Matt High (Nadine), Pat High (Lisa). She joined Omega Nu and found her niche participating in all the charitable fundraising events. She also spent many years teaching Catechism and volunteering with local 4-H and Boy Scouts. Millie loved children and immensely enjoyed and doted on her 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Millie’s children warmly thank her many friends and extended family who were so helpful and supportive during her years struggling with Alzheimer’s. Special thanks to the caring staff at O’Connor Woods assisted living and the loving caregivers at HomeInstead both of Stockton.

A rosary will be held at 10:30am and a funeral mass in honor of Millie High will be held on August 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Rocklin. Reception will be at Springview Hall Community Center, Rocklin. Memorial contributions in honor of Millie may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. https://www.alz.org
