Jim Charter

Jim Charter of Arbuckle, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side. Jim was the son of Richard and Eileen Charter. He was born April 15, 1951. Jim was the oldest of Richard and Eileen’s six children. He grew up in a busy Charter household that was constantly full of siblings and many Charter cousins. Jim attended Pierce High School. He was an active FFA member, and played football, basketball and baseball. He was a graduate of Pierce’s Class of 1969. Upon graduating, he attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Yuba College.

Jim then returned home to begin a life long career of farming. Jim married Kris Beckley of Grimes in 1972. They had two sons, Nickolas and Michael. Jim moved with his family to Williams in 1986. Jim was a dedicated member of the Williams Volunteer Fire Department and served the department for 15 years. Jim was a wonderful father to his boys and instilled in them a sense of pride in hard work, and an absolute love of the outdoors. He loved traveling and was a huge fan of baseball. On every family vacation, Jim would take the family to a baseball game, and if it wasn’t baseball season, he would arrange a tour of the stadium for him and his family. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. Many wonderful memories were made with Jim and his two sons either hunting, or fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eileen. And his sister, Elizabeth Charter (Liz).

He is survived by Kris Charter; Son Nickolas, wife Karina Perez, and grandsons Bryce and Graham Charter; Son Michael, wife Amber, and grandsons Owen and Robert Charter Brothers Daniel, Tom, Perry and sister Laura Zilli. And many, many, Nieces and Nephews.

A funeral will be held for Jim at the Arbuckle Holy Cross Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow, then a reception at the Arbuckle Golf Course.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his name to either the Williams Volunteer Fire Department or the Arbuckle Volunteer Fire Department.
