Richard Dean Benthien (Poncho), born in St. Helena, 65 passed away on Jan. 13, 2022, peacefully at home in Maxwell after a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born on Nov. 20, 1956, to Bud and Sue Benthien. He was preceded in death by his Father Bud, sister Lori Edwards, niece Amanda Edwards and brother Michael Benthien.
He is survived by his beloved wife Dianna Benthien, his mother Sue Solaro, two children Amy Fuller (Will) and Beau Benthien, three grandchildren, Sabrina, Jaelen and Maiya aka Martha and great granddaughter Arianna. His brother Andrew Benthien (Cindy) and sister Cathi Forte (Dave). Step children Ray Vessels (Holly), Jeremy Vessels, Brandi Ruiz (Tony), grand children Cameron, Audra, Jaclyn, Amanda, Jessica and great grandson Gauge. As well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Richard was a talented carpenter by trade. He also worked at Valley West Care center for many years.
He was an amazing husband, father, and grandpa. He enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening and spending time with family and friends. His witty personality was loved by all and he will be greatly missed.
The family will be planning a celebration of life at a later date. ■
