Patricia Myers

08/23/1927 - 02/09/2022

Patricia Sheila Bailey Myers of Colusa passed away unexpectedly at age 94 on Feb. 9, 2022.  On the day prior to her passing, she drove herself to Williams to enjoy an afternoon playing her favorite card game Bridge, at her favorite restaurant Louie Cairo’s.

Pat, or Sheila as she was known growing up in Arbuckle, was born in Williams on Aug. 23, 1927, to immigrant parents Arthur “Bill” Bailey of New Zealand and Yvonne Chieux Bailey of France.  Her siblings Yvon, Yvette Stark, Donald, and Bert preceded her in death.  She is survived by her sister Marlene Schaad of Dunnigan.

Pat graduated in 1945 from Pierce High School.  During high school she served our country as a WWII Plane Observer for the Army Air Forces Ground Observer Corps.  Upon graduation, she enrolled in the nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento.  She became a registered nurse in 1949.  Pat served in the United States Nurse Cadet Corps while at Mercy.  She embarked on her career as an RN, moving to Southern California to work as a surgical nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Pat returned to Arbuckle as a Public Health Nurse for Colusa County.  She met Herbert Charles Myers at a local gas station.  They married on September 2, 1951 and settled in Arbuckle.  Four children followed:  Mark (Charla) Myers of Zamora, Maronee (Jon) Hollister of San Luis Obispo, Maureen (Mark) DeBarr of Concord, and Kent (Suzanne) Myers of Yuba City.  Nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.  Herb passed away in 1992.  In 2010, Pat married David Longstreet.  David passed away in 2021.

Pat was very proud to be a nurse and her professional career spanned 40 years including several years as the Discharge Coordinator at Colusa Community Hospital.  Pat was a very enthusiastic fan of the SF 49ers and the SF Giants.  On numerous occasions she was heard to yell, “I could have tackled (or thrown or hit) better than that!”  She dearly loved her family and friends (many of whom she knew since childhood), gardening, quail, hummingbirds, the Mendocino Coast, and her beloved dog Abby.

There will be a viewing on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, at the McNary Moore Chapel located at 107 5th St. in Colusa from 9 AM to Noon followed by a graveside service at the Arbuckle Cemetery on Bailey Road.  She will be buried next to Herb under the redwood tree planted by their family in 1992.
