COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa County Transit Agency has received an initial $2,236,615 in state funding through Senate Bill 125 to support improvements to public transportation services across Colusa County.
The funding will be used primarily to modernize the county’s transit fleet and improve service reliability. Agency officials said the investment will allow Colusa County Transit to begin replacing aging vehicles and move toward cleaner transportation options.
The SB 125 program provides state funding to help transit agencies build cleaner, more reliable and more accessible transportation systems. Colusa County Transit plans to use the funds to purchase new vehicles, including zero-emission buses, as part of a broader effort to improve service dependability and reduce vehicle breakdowns.
Officials said retiring older buses and adding newer equipment is expected to improve on-time performance and create a more consistent experience for riders throughout the county. The shift toward zero-emission vehicles also aligns with California’s long-term clean transportation goals.
In addition to fleet upgrades, the funding supports the agency’s goal of maintaining equitable access to public transportation for residents in both urban and rural areas of Colusa County.
The funding received represents the initial payment approved under SB 125. Additional allocations may follow based on future state budget actions and program guidelines.
