COLUSA, CA. (MPG) — The Colusa Masonic Lodge installed its new officers on Jan. 1 during a ceremony that drew members, families, and visitors from across the country.

The event began at 2 p.m. and included hors d’oeuvres and a banquet, marking the start of a new year for the lodge.

The ceremony also welcomed several senior members of the Craft from out of state, including three Past Grand Masters. Visiting members are scheduled to remain in Colusa for several days, during which lodge members planned to show them different parts of the county.

New officers installed for the year include Master Brent F. Arnold, Senior Warden H. George Sandridge, Junior Warden Keir Smith, Treasurer George Hulbert, Secretary Donald Pimentel, Senior Deacon Grant Harrison, and Tyler John Zwald.

Following the installation, Arnold shared a message of appreciation for the turnout and support.

“I think it just all came together great,” Arnold said. “It sets the tone for the year. We’re going to be doing a lot in the community. We’re going to be doing a lot for our members, and we’re going to be looking to have fun while we’re doing all of it.”

Arnold said the lodge plans to increase its community involvement throughout the year, including quarterly service efforts and regular opportunities for residents to connect with lodge members. He encouraged anyone with a family connection to the Masonic Lodge, including heirlooms or regalia, to reach out with questions.

The lodge also plans to be available to the public on the first Saturday morning of each month.

One upcoming effort is scheduled for the first Saturday of February, when the lodge will host a lunch gathering focused on helping community members with technology questions. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 311 Fifth St., at the corner of Fifth and Jay streets.

According to Arnold, younger members and others with experience will be available to assist with basic technology needs, including phones, email, laptops, and social media. The session will also include tips on online security and avoiding scams.

“As everything shifts more toward computers and an online presence, it’s important that we help those who may not have that experience,” Arnold said.

Arnold said lodge members remain available in the community and encouraged residents to reach out through Facebook (Colusa Lodge No. 240 F&AM) or in person with questions or ideas.
