Letter to the Editor – Yuletide Dinner

Dear Editor,

The 2024 Yuletide Dinner committee would like to thank ALL the helping hands who made it possible to dish up over 250 meals on Christmas Day in Friendship Hall.  We served 192 delivered meals and over 60 dine-in and to-go meals, exceeding our previous years by over 100 meals.

Volunteers who founded Yuletide in 1984 helped this 40th year alongside helpers who were volunteering for the very first time.  Generous folks brought pies and donated turkeys. Other generous folks cooked turkeys (Earl Stegall cooked 15 of them!) all of which arrived by 9:30 am Christmas morning.  Carvers carved, potato peelers cooked and mashed potatoes, pie servers dished up pie, kitchen workers prepared dressing and gravy, servers served up dine-in plates and to-go plates, and able drivers delivered hot food throughout the county.  Other generous folks stayed late to wash dishes and clean up.  The Hall was filled with the Christmas spirit and the joy of working together as a community.

We would also like to thank the generous individuals and community organizations who donated financially, most especially Rotary of Colusa County.  Without this support, we would not be able to continue this tradition.

Many thanks again, and best wishes for a bright New Year!

Sincerely,

The Yuletide Committee 2024

Janet Anderson, Denise Conrado, Marie Myers, and Elizabeth Yerxa
