Williams Track Keeps Pace in MVL

DURHAM, CA (MPG) – Williams’ varsity track athletes made their presence felt last Wednesday at a Mid-Valley League meet that featured seven teams and was held at Durham High School.

In the girls’ distance races, Isabella Santillan won the 800 meters in a time of 2:41.1 and the 3200 meters with a mark of 13:33.6, then completed the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 1600 where she crossed the line in 5:58.7.

Santillan, who also excelled for the Yellowjackets in cross country and soccer, then made her way to Chico’s Nor Cal Small School Invitational on Apr. 12, where she shaved nearly 11 seconds off her 1600 meter time to take third.

On the boys’ side in Durham, Salvador Ruiz (5:27) was second in the 1600 meters, Gancarlo Garcia (54.0) was third in the 300-meter hurdles, while the ‘Jackets’ 4 x 100 relay team (48.4) consisting of Andrew Bautista, Ernie Lemus, Angel Hernandez and Ruiz was second.

Williams is back at it this week in Cottonwood at the West Valley Invitational.
