MAXWELL, CA (MPG) – When county rivals Maxwell and Williams met in a Mid-Valley League contest last Tuesday, it was all Panthers as seven players collected two hits apiece in the game.

Leading the way at the plate was Emma Hendrix who had an inside-the-park home run, while Bailee Haywood and Makenna Dunlap each doubled in one of their at bats.
In the circle, Hendrix went the full five frames striking out 10 and surrendering just two hits, both off the bat of the Yellowjackets’ Madison Davalos.
A second game between the two teams was scheduled for last Friday, but no information was provided.
Maxwell (10-7-1, 1-2) had a series with CORE Butte beginning on Tuesday at home and concluding in Chico today, while Williams (1-8, 0-3) was in Los Molinos on April 16 and hosts the Bulldogs this afternoon.

After going winless in the preseason, the Eagles opened Evergreen League play with a sweep of Westwood in a doubleheader at home, but dropped a non-conference game to visiting CORE Butte to end the week.
In the opener, Starlin Smith was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate as she also drove in a pair of runs, while Ray Altimus was 3 for 4 and was a home run short of the cycle, while Jenna Silva also finished 3 for 4 with a double.
Mackenzie Wills homered for the Eagles in the win.

In the nightcap, Lupe Espinoza was Princeton’s top hitter going 4 for 4 and knocking in three runs, while Silva stayed hot again going 3 for 4 with a double.
Altimus, Smith and Reyna Sullivan each recorded a pair of hits.
Statistics from the loss to CORE Butte were not provided.
The Eagles (2-10, 2-0) hosted Hayfork in a doubleheader on Apr. 15.
