Colusa Softball Keeps on Rolling

COLUSA, CA  (MPG) – Colusa kept its record unblemished on the season after sweeping the series from Sacramento Valley League foe Durham last week.

Starting off on the road in Durham on Apr. 9, the RedHawks applied continuous pressure as they shut out the Trojans 8-0.

Junior pitcher Ava Garcia continued her dominance in the circle, recording her fifth shutout as she tossed a complete game no hitter in which she struck out nine batters.

At the plate, Abril Guzman and CeCe Mitchum each doubled as part of a 2-for-4 day, while Elli Santana also finished with a pair of hits.

On home ground last Friday, the RedHawks really got their bats going as they banged out 13 hits in the 15-1 win.

Guzman again swung a hot bat, going 3-for-3 and knocking in three runs, while Mitchum and Garcia both had two hits apiece.

Aliah Ramirez and Eliza Mitchum joined the hit parade recording two knocks and two RBIs as well.

For her part, Ramirez delivered a two run double and also contributed with an outfield assist to gun down a Trojan base runner at third.

Garcia and Olivia Nair combined for the win in the circle limiting Durham to six hits.

Colusa (14-0, 8-0), the Northern Section’s fifth ranked team, sits tied atop the SVL standings with East Nicolaus as a showdown with the Spartans looms on the horizon.

This week, the RedHawks traveled to Willows on Tuesday and Clear Lake on Thursday before returning home to square off against the Honkers again today.
