Baseball/Softball Roundup

Baseball:

Pierce 5 – Paradise 10 (3/26)

Leading 5-4 heading into the bottom of the fourth, the Bears let the game slip away when Paradise put five runs on the board and then added one more in the home half of the sixth.

Colton Vanlaningham had one hit and drove in two runs, Roberto Ramirez had a hit and an RBI, while Rodney Hofhenke, Tony Maldonado and Easton Richins accounted for Pierce’s other three hits in the game.

A second game with the Bobcats was scheduled for Mar. 29 although no information was provided.

This week the Bears (6-5, 2-1) were in Winters on Tuesday and returned home on Friday to complete the season series with the Warriors.

 

Softball:

Maxwell 1 – Los Molinos 9 (3/26)

Maxwell 3 – Los Molinos 7 (3/28)

The Panthers struggled mightily against Bulldog pitching in two Mid-Valley League games last week as they struck out a combined 25 times.

On the road for the first game, Shelby Dunlap recorded Maxwell’s only hit and scored the only run.

Returning home, to complete the series, the Panthers fared better banging out 10 hits and putting three runs on the board, but still came up short.

Dunlap, Emma Hendrix, Teresita Salazar and Ava Barrett each had two hits apiece, while Bailee Haywood doubled.

Maxwell (9-7-1, 0-2) was off this week for Spring Break then resumes MVL play on Apr. 9, when it hosts Williams.
