
MAXWELL, CA (MPG) – It was a good start to last week for the Maxwell boys soccer team as it shutout visiting Durham 6-0 on Jan. 29, but the tide turned as the week wore on.

Walter Avery scored a brace to lead the way to victory, while Celestino Corona, Melvin Martinez, Kaeden Stallcop, and Rudi Gonzalez each put one in the back of the net as well.
However, despite the triumph over Durham, the Panthers suffered their first two losses of the season in subsequent games against Redding Christian and Williams by scores of 1-2 and 0-3, respectively.
No statistics were provided. Maxwell (5-2-1), who, weather permitting, was in Paradise on Monday before making the short trip to Williams to play the Yellowjackets in the final Mid-Valley League match of the year.
