Maxwell 44 – Los Molinos 39 (1/23)
Maxwell 51 – Hamilton City 65 (1/26)
After a nice win at home over Los Molinos, the second place team in Mid-Valley League, the Panthers could not carry the momentum into their game in Hamilton City as they fell to the Braves.

Girls:
Pierce 45 – Paradise 32 (1/22)
Pierce 42 – East Nicolaus 37 (1/24)
Pierce 40 – Willows 28 (1/26)
After an ugly loss to Colusa on Jan. 16, the Bears have turned things around reeling off four straight wins, including three last week.
Starting off at home against Paradise, Letzy Ambriz had one of her best games of the season with 18 points and nine rebounds in the triumph over the Bobcats.
Pierce then followed up two nights later by outscoring visiting East Nicolaus 24-12 in the second half to earn the victory behind 12 points from Magali Jauregui.
Ambriz pulled down seven boards, as did Leah Charter.
In Willows to round out the week, Ambriz and Charlie had nine points apiece, while Charter tossed in eight.
Coach Michael Barber said he likes what he sees from his young squad, as he described what has been the impetus for the improvement.
“We are limiting our turnovers, doing a much better job rebounding, and getting better shot quality,” said the first-year head coach. “Also, getting the ball in the key has helped open everything up.”
This week, the Bears (11-12, 5-5) had a contest at home against Winters on Jan. 30 and were in Durham on Feb. 1.
Maxwell 31 – Los Molinos 29 (1/23)
Maxwell 38 – Hamilton City 41 (1/26)

In two close Mid-Valley League games last week, the Panthers broke even at home, edging Los Molinos before coming up short to Hamilton City.
Emma Hendrix had a commendable effort with a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double in the victory over the Bulldogs, while Bailee Haywood and Teresita Salazar helped out on the boards with 10 and nine rebounds, respectively.
Maxwell gave first place Hamilton City all they could handle last Friday night, but despite another double-double from Hendrix that included 25 points and 14 rebounds, the Braves held on to avoid the upset.
The fourth place Panthers (7-6, 3-3), squared off against Williams on Tuesday, then hits the road tonight to play CORE Butte in Chico.
