The Colusa RedHawks and Pierce Bears played to a 1-1 draw on Jan. 25.

Boys:

Williams 13 – Paradise 0 (1/26)

Despite having a game against Maxwell rained out last week, the Yellowjackets showed no sign of slowing down as they laid a beating on the visiting Bobcats.

Eleven different players scored for Williams including Leo Hernandez, Kaled Rosales, Phillip Santillan, Ernie Lemus, Luis Jimenez, Adrian Solis, Matthew Cervantes, Jesse Velazquez, Leo Esparza, Octavio Parra and Danny Preciado.

This week the unbeaten ‘Jackets had a non-conference match on Monday in Oroville against Las Plumas before returning to McCarl Field to host Redding Christian on Wednesday and Hamilton City today.

Colusa 1 – Pierce 1 (1/25)

A busy week ended with mixed results for the RedHawks as they posted a win over Los Molinos on the road, were shutout in Gridley and then played Pierce to a draw.

Colusa’s Jesse Medina battles Pierce’s Daniel Bustamante in a match on Jan. 25. Medina and Bustamante each scored in the 1-1 draw,

Colusa erupted for eight goals in Los Molinos led by Charlie Santana and Jesse Medina, who scored a brace apiece in the win.

Kenneth Arias had a goal and assisted on two others, while Cesar Cruz, Jose Ceron and Victor Lopez each put one in the back of the net as well.

Although the RedHawks couldn’t crack the Bulldog defense in Gridley, Medina got Colusa on the board in its match at home against Pierce, which was enough for the draw.

Now 6-8-2, 2-2-2, Colusa looked to avenge two narrow losses when it hosted Live Oak on Tuesday and Winters on Thursday.

 

Maxwell 2 – Hamilton City 1 (1/25)

In its only match last week, the Panthers (4-0-1) edged Mid-Valley League foe Hamilton City.

Maxwell, who entertained Durham on Monday and Redding Christian on Thursday, provided no statistics.

 

Pierce 1 – Willows 0 (1/23)

Pierce 1 – Colusa 1 (1/25)

After shutting out Willows at home to start last week, the Bears’ Daniel Bustamante drilled a second half penalty kick, which was the equalizer in Colusa.

 

No other information was provided by Pierce (5-7-2, 2-3-2) who hosted Winters on Jan. 30 and Los Molinos on Feb. 1.

 

Girls:

Pierce 6 – Willows 0 (1/23)

Pierce 0 – Colusa 3 (1/25)

Against Willows, Brenda Granados accounted for four goals to lead Pierce to a blowout win.

Lyla Maldonado also netted a goal, while Esmeralda Garcia assisted on one.

Keepers, Abbie Reynolds, and Garcia, combined to keep a clean sheet correspondingly making four and two saves.

Statistics from the match against Colusa were not provided.

This week the Bears (3-11, 2-4) welcomed Winters and Los Molinos to Gregg LeMaster Field on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

Colusa’s Melissa Avila and Pierce’s Jaelene Cadenas close in on the ball in a match on Jan. 25 that was won by the RedHawks.

No information was provided by the RedHawks (4-7-4, 4-2) who had home matches against Live Oak and Winters this week.

 

Williams 3 – Paradise 4 (1/25)

Tied 2-2 at the half, the Yellowjackets were outscored in final 40 minutes and fell to visiting Paradise.

No statistics were provided by Williams (4-6-1, 1-2) who played a non-conference match against Las Plumas on Monday before returning home to face Mid-Valley League rival Hamilton City today.
