Williams (4-5-1, 1-1) hosted Maxwell in a Mid-Valley League contest on Monday, their only scheduled match this week.

Colusa 2 – Winters 5 (1/17)

A pair of freshmen accounted for the RedHawks’ goals in Winters last Wednesday, which, despite the loss, bodes well for the future.

Itzel Cruz had a goal and then assisted as Melissa Avila found the back of the net.

Colusa had a match with Willows the following day but provided no information.

This week is a busy one for the RedHawks (2-7-3, 1-2), who hit the road to face Los Molinos on Tuesday and Gridley on Wednesday before returning home to take on Pierce Thursday.

Williams’s Lori Contreras moves the ball forward in a match at McCarl Field against Durham on Jan. 19.

In its biggest win so far this year, the Bears recorded a shutout on the road in Los Molinos, but had the tables turned in a lopsided loss in Live Oak the following day.

Pierce (2-10, 1-3) who entertained Willows on Jan. 23 before making the short trip to Colusa on Jan. 25, did not provide statistics.

Maxwell 1 – Paradise 5 (1/18)

The Panthers fell on the road in Paradise in just their third match of the season.

No statistics were provided by Maxwell (0-2-1) who was in Williams on Monday before returning home to take on Hamilton City Thursday.

Boys:

Williams 5 – Hamilton City 0 (1/17)

Against long-time rival Hamilton City, the team’s leading goal scorer Ernie Lemus recorded the brace, while Angel Villanueva, Gerardo Navarro, and Leo Hernandez each had one goal.

Keepers Jesse Velazquez and Jose Pineda combined to keep a clean sheet making eight and four saves respectively.

In the romp over visiting Durham, Lemus had a huge game with another brace to go along with four assists.

Two others getting into the act were Adrian Solis and Jorge Saavedra with one goal apiece.

Unbeaten in nine tries, Williams played its only match this week at home against Maxwell on Monday.

Colusa 1 – Winters 2 (1/17)

Colusa 4 – Willows 1 (1/18)

The RedHawks went 1-1 in Sacramento Valley League matches last week having narrowly lost on the road in Winters before cruising past Willows at home the following day.

In Winters, Charlie Santana netted a second half goal, but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors were able to strike for the game winner.

Goalkeeper Oscar Ramos made an admirable effort with eight saves.

At home against the Honkers, Jesse Medina finished with a brace of goals, while Kenneth Arias and Julius Cervantes each had one.

For the second straight match, Ramos registered eight saves.

Colusa (5-7-1, 1-2-1) looked to keep its momentum on the road with matches in Los Molinos and Gridley on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 before rounding out the week at home against Pierce on Jan. 25.

Pierce 5 – Los Molinos 0 (1/16)

Pierce 1 – Live Oak 2 (1/18)

Although no statistics were provided, the Bears posted a convincing win in Los Molinos, then made a strong showing in a narrow loss to Live Oak last week.

Now 3-7-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the SVL, Pierce welcomed Willows to LeMaster Field on Tuesday ahead of its rivalry match in Colusa on Thursday.

Maxwell 2 – Redding Christian 1 (1/17)

Maxwell 10 – Paradise 1 (1/18)

Despite having many of their players pulling double duty on the hardwood as well as on the pitch, the Panthers are making a statement in the Mid-Valley League after coming away victorious in two home matches last week.

Maxwell (3-0-1), who did not provide statistics, had its hands full in Williams on Monday before returning home to square off against Hamilton City on Thursday.
