BOYS:
Williams 4 – Winters 1 (12/12)
Williams 1 – Live Oak 0 (12/14)
With wins at home over perennial powerhouses Winters and Live Oak last week, the ‘Jackets served notice that they are the odds on favorites for the section title this year as they pushed their record to 5-0.
Leading scorer Ernie Lemus recorded the brace to lead Williams, while Adrian Solis and Angel Villanueva added one a piece to the total.
Keeper Jesse Velazquez made 10 saves in goal.
In a tight battle with Live Oak two days later, the Yellowjackets shut out the Lions to record the narrow victory, although no statistics were provided.
Williams had its only scheduled game this week on Tuesday when it made the trip to Orland to face the Trojans.
Colusa 3 – Hamilton City 2 (12/12)
Colusa 4 – Kelseyville 1 (12/14)
Taking the field for the first time this season with its full complement of players, the RedHawks edged Hamilton City on the road, and then returned home to down visiting Kelseyville.
Against the Braves, Charlie Santana, fresh off his touchdown catch in the state championship football game, got things started for Colusa with a first half goal.
But the RedHawks needed Cesar Cruz and Romeo Ponce to both put one in the back of the net in the second half in order to secure the victory.
Back on home ground, Cruz led the way against the Knights with a brace, while Santana and Francisco Hernandez added a goal apiece.
Colusa (4-5) looked to even its record going into the winter break when it
traveled to Gridley on Dec. 19.
Pierce 7 – Anderson 2 (12/14)
In its only match last week, the Bears picked up their second win of the
season with a rout of visiting Anderson at LeMaster Field.
Pierce (2-5), who made the trip to Kelseyville on Tuesday in its final
appearance before the winter break, provided no statistics.
