COLUSA, CA (MPG) — Birchfield Elementary’s transitional kindergarten students made a special delivery last week, taking their letters to Santa to the Colusa Post Office and getting a behind the scenes look at how holiday mail moves from drop box to delivery route.

With envelopes in hand and plenty of excitement in tow, the students toured the post office and learned how mail is sorted, processed and prepared for carriers. Post office staff helped explain the steps in kid friendly terms, turning everyday operations into a field trip full of wonder.

Teachers and school staff guided the group through the visit, with parents helping keep the line moving as each letter found its way into the mail. After the tour, students warmed up with a sweet seasonal treat, enjoying hot chocolate provided by Caffeinated.
