Colusa Mushroom Plant Undergoes Extensive Roof Repairs

COLUSA, CA (MPG) — Farmers Fresh Mushrooms will repair its compost building in two phases over about six months after roof damage forced removal of a large section on the west side, General Manager Laura Deniz told the Colusa City Council on Nov. 4.

Work began after crews took down the damaged portion.

“We hired a local contractor to handle the work, and things are moving along well,” Deniz said.

The first phase covers the currently exposed area and is expected to finish in about two weeks.

A contractor review expanded the scope that includes replacing select remaining beams and repairing the roof on the east side. The structure may remain partially open during the work.

“We estimate it will take about six months to complete the project, depending on materials and weather conditions since we’re going into the winter months,” Deniz said.

Deniz said the company will keep city management updated as each stage progresses.

“We want to reassure that Farmers Fresh is committed to getting the building fully repaired as quickly, as safely as possible, and we truly appreciate the community’s patience and support while we finish this work,” she said.

Farmers Fresh acquired Premier Mushrooms in 2020 and continues operations at the Colusa site.
