‘Jack Skellington’ Wins Top Honors in Scarecrow Contest

COLUSA, CA (MPG) — The Stagehands’ third annual Scarecrow Contest wrapped up Saturday with 21 creative entries decorating Colusa businesses and public spaces throughout October.

First place went to “Jack Skellington,” created by staff at the Colusa County Courthouse. Second place was awarded to “Ghoul-met Grill,” an imaginative entry from Colusa County Environmental Health, and third place went to “The Work Crew” from the Colusa County Maintenance Yard.

“Jack Skellington,” created by staff at the Colusa County Courthouse, took first place in The Stagehands’ third annual Scarecrow Contest held in downtown Colusa.

The community-wide contest, hosted by The Stagehands, invited businesses, nonprofits, and individuals to design and display their own scarecrows. Residents voted for their favorites on The Stagehands’ Facebook page, where the winning displays were announced Oct. 25.

“There were so many good ones,” organizers said. “I hope everyone will participate again next year and get even more community members involved. Thank you everyone.”

“The Work Crew,” designed by the Colusa County Maintenance Yard, claimed third place in The Stagehands’ third annual Scarecrow Contest.
Colusa County Environmental Health’s “Ghoul-met Grill” earned second place in The Stagehands’ annual Scarecrow Contest, which featured 21 creative entries across the community.

Organizers said the contest continues to grow each year, bringing a festive touch to downtown Colusa and encouraging friendly competition among participants.
