COLUSA, CA (MPG) — Colusa will keep the music playing. The Colusa County Arts Council has been awarded another three-year Levitt AMP grant, securing up to $120,000 in matching funds to continue the city’s free outdoor summer concert series through 2028.
The Levitt Foundation announced that Colusa is among 32 returning communities nationwide selected for renewal. The grant supports local efforts to activate public spaces and strengthen community connections through live music.
Held each summer at Veterans Memorial Park, the Levitt AMP Colusa Music Series has become a downtown tradition, drawing hundreds of residents and visitors for 10 weeks of free Thursday night concerts. Attendance has grown steadily since the first season in 2022, averaging between 300 and 400 people per show this year, with some of the largest crowds gathering over the Fourth of July weekend.
Organizers credit the community’s participation for helping Colusa stand out among small towns nationwide. Strong turnout and volunteer involvement have been key to maintaining the series and meeting the foundation’s engagement goals.
With the new funding secured, planning for the 2026 season is already underway. The local committee, supported by the Colusa County Arts Council, is using the fall months to review surveys, evaluate partnerships, and outline next year’s lineup and logistics.
Colusa joins cities such as Baton Rouge, Green Bay, and Waco as part of the Levitt network of communities that provide free live music and cultural access for all ages.
Residents can stay informed about upcoming events or get involved by visiting http://www.levittampcolusa.info or contacting the Colusa County Arts Council.
The Levitt AMP Colusa Music Series will return to Veterans Memorial Park next summer, keeping Thursday nights filled with music, food, and community spirit.
