Williams Cross Country Racking Up the Miles

OROVILLE, CA (MPG) – A last minute schedule change saw the Yellowjackets’ cross country team make its way to the Las Plumas Invitational meet at the North Forebay State Recreation Area on Sept. 12.

 

Manuel Santillan just missed medaling in the varsity boys’ 2.5 mile race, as he crossed the line 16th in a time of 14:32.75.

 

Also running in the field of 88 for the ‘Jackets was Phillip Santillan (15:27.31) and Fernando Rivera (17:39.97).

 

In the varsity girls’ competition, Andrea Velazquez (18:55.75) logged the best time for the Williams’ squad which also included Zamara Saavedra (22:42.34), Dinorah Terrazazas (24:19.22), Estefany Carabeo (24:43.22) and Kelly Luna (28:18.72).

 

The lone ‘Jacket representative in the JV boys’ race was Leonardo Navarro Ramirez (22:54.15).

 

This week Williams made the trip to the Colusa-Sacramento River State Recreation Area on Sept. 24 for a preview race.
