Last week was a long one for the Bears who played on four out of six days.

Starting off in Clear Lake, Pierce handled the Cardinals with relative ease, winning out 25-23, 25-12, 25-15.

Magali Jauregui handed out 20 assists, Leah Charter finished with 10 kills, six aces and six digs, while Rylie Delepierre contributed 14 points with seven kills and seven aces.

Returning home to face Sutter in a much more tightly contested match, Pierce earned the 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18 victory behind a 17 kill, 20 dig effort from Charter.

Jauregui made her presence felt as well with 28 assists, 10 digs and five aces.

Destany Martinez pitched in with six kills and 13 digs, while Leslye Velasquez ended the match with 17 digs and 23 service receptions.

The Bears then hit the road again where they swept Vacaville Christian although no other information about the match was available.

Closing out the week’s play at Sutter’s Battle in the Buttes Tournament, the Bears went 3-2 although they were knocked out of the gold bracket with a first-round loss to Durham.

Now 12-6, Pierce entertained Williams on Sept. 9, opened Sacramento Valley League play in Willows on Sept. 11 and heads to Gridley tonight for a rare Friday night match.

Colusa 3 – River Valley 1 (9/2)

Whittier Cardinal Classic (9/5-9/6):

Colusa 2 – Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary 0

Colusa 0 – Flintridge Sacred Heart 2

No other information was provided by the RedHawks who after beating River Valley traveled to Southern California for the Whittier Cardinal Classic.

This week Colusa played SVL rival Willows on Tuesday, made the trip to Hamilton City for a non-conference match on Wednesday, then returned to league play at home on Thursday against Winters.

Chuck Johnson Tournament (9/4-9/6):

Williams 0 – CORE Butte 2

Williams 2 – Paradise 0

Williams 0 – Oroville 2

The Yellowjackets participated in Hamilton’s Chuck Johnson Tournament last week although statistics were not available.

In its only scheduled match this week, Williams made the short trip to face its county rival Pierce on Sept. 9.

Maxwell 3 – Princeton 0 (9/2)

After picking up a 25-9, 25-15, 25-20 win over Princeton, the Panthers finished off last week at the Biggs Tournament.

No other information was made available.

Maxwell closed out the preseason with home matches against CORE Butte and Live Oak on Sept. 9 and Sept. 11 respectively.
