City of Colusa Police Department Reports July Activity

COLUSA, CA (MPG) — The Colusa Police Department reported 333 calls for service in July, marking an increase from the previous month. Officers assisted other agencies 15 times.

There were nine in-custody arrests and two citations issued in lieu of booking. No domestic violence-related incidents were reported, which police noted as highly unusual. Officers initiated 39 reports.

Traffic enforcement included 245 stops and resulted in 76 citations for violations such as cell phone use, speeding, stop sign infractions, and illegal window tinting. Two traffic collisions with injuries were reported. Three DUI-related arrests were made. Hit-and-run incidents are not included in these figures and are instead listed under crime statistics.

The Police Services Manager handled 74 calls for service, not including phone inquiries.

Fourth of July festivities concluded without any major incidents. Extra patrol officers were assigned throughout the evening to increase visibility and response.

Police trainees attending the Butte College Police Academy, passed their first round of academic testing. They are enrolled full time, with graduation scheduled for Dec. 5.

The department reminded the public that a $13 boat launch fee is required at Colusa State Park.

Code enforcement continued efforts around the city. Officers focused on vehicle abatement, issuing warning tags to vehicles unmoved for more than 120 hours. These vehicles are subject to towing under City Code 11-8(Z). Officers also issued citations to vehicles parked with the right-side wheels more than 18 inches from the curb, in violation of City Code 11-8(E).
