The raffle prize was a Stoeger 5.5-inch cattleman pistol, engraved with an image of a 19th century steam engine from the historic Colusa & Lake Railroad. The firearm was donated by Kittle’s Outdoor Sport Co., where the mural will be painted.

The fundraiser was hosted by Colusa Founders Day, a nonprofit organization under the Foundation of Colusa County.

“Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket or donated,” organizer Susan Meeker said.

Meeker added that it was difficult selling tickets for the cause.

“I am not sure I have raised enough to pay the artist,” Meeker said. “We may have to do another fundraiser or crowd fundraising.”

The mural will depict the Colusa & Lake Railroad, an important part of the county’s history. Meeker said additional community support will be needed to bring the project to completion.

“We need your help to get this beautiful art in Colusa,” Meeker said.
