In a coordinated effort with the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office, Arbuckle Fire, Maxwell Fire, McCloud Fire, and Siskiyou County, firefighters engaged in intensive, hands-on drills designed to prepare first responders for some of the most dangerous and time-sensitive rescue scenarios they may face.
The training covered essential swift water rescue techniques, including rope systems, victim retrieval, and personal safety procedures in fast-moving water. These exercises, held in realistic conditions, are vital for ensuring teams remain ready to respond effectively when lives hang in the balance.
“Preparedness isn’t seasonal — it’s an everyday commitment,” said a spokesperson for Williams Fire. “We train hard so we can serve our community safely and effectively when it matters most.”
The department extended a heartfelt thank you to its dedicated firefighters, partner agencies, and expert instructors for their tireless efforts and commitment to public safety — rain or shine.
With water-related incidents on the rise across California, proactive training like this ensures that emergency responders remain at peak readiness to protect and serve their communities.
