Hawks Fly Past Bears

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Winners of their last seven out of nine games, the RedHawk baseball team ended Sacramento Valley League play with a pair of victories over Pierce last week.

Making its way to Arbuckle on May 6, Colusa pounded out 16 hits as it went on to down the Bears 17-6.

 

At the plate, Rowdy Moore went 3 for 3 with a triple, Mason Gutierrez was 3 for 5 including two doubles and four RBI, while Adan Travis, Kane Nall, Lucas Price and Jace MacKaben had two hits apiece.

Three pitchers, Moore, Travis and Juan Ramirez limited the Bears to just five hits and struck out a combined five batters.

 

For Pierce, Damien Ambriz doubled while Devin Garcia, Connor Harris, Mikey Acevedo and Nathan Gomez each recorded hits.

 

Returning to Colusa for the regular season finale, the RedHawk seniors led the way to a 13-3 triumph.

Colusa pitcher Lucas Price tossed a one-hitter in the RedHawks 13-3 win over Pierce on May 9.

Price had a big day tossing six innings of one hit ball in addition to helping his cause at the plate where he finished 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

 

Nall tripled and went 2 for 4 while Travis doubled.

 

Alex Ramirez accounted for the Bears’ only hit in the game.

 

Colusa (7-17, 7-5) which has won its last four home games, finished fourth in the SVL and received its playoff fate on Wednesday when the brackets were announced, although it was after the Pioneer Review print deadline.

Meanwhile, Pierce (2-19, 0-12) had its season come to an end.
