Bear Softball Mauls Honkers

ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) – Pierce picked up its first Sacramento Valley League wins of the season last Tuesday as they hammered out 30 hits and 35 runs to take a twin bill from visiting Willows by scores of 10-0 and 25-9.

Pierce’s Rylie Delepierre went 6 for 6 with five RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Willows on Apr. 22.

 

In the shutout win, Maicey Hoebel faced 17 of the 18 Honker hitters yielding just a single hit and striking out six before giving way to Nayeli Lievanos, who retired the final batter in the run-rule shortened game.

 

Rylie Delepierre led the way at the plate finishing 3 for 3 with a triple, double and three RBI, while Hoebel, Kendall Mulqueeny and Danica Wilkerson had two hits apiece.

 

The Bears stayed hot in the second game as Jocelyn Ramos went a perfect 5 for 5 with three RBI and Delepierre ended 3 for 3 with a triple, knocked in two more and crossed the plate five times.

 

Hoebel smashed a triple and a double as part of her 3 for 4 day, Wilkerson also finished 3 for 4 with four RBI, while LucaBella Nolen drove in four runs.

Pierce’s Maicey Hoebel posted two wins in the circle against Willows on Apr. 22 in addition to helping her cause by picking up five hits at the plate.

 

Delepierre got the start in the circle before giving way to Hoebel who went the final three and two-thirds innings.

 

Following its mauling of the Honkers, Pierce went cold at home against Gridley a day later, where they fell 0-19 in a non-conference affair.

 

Delepierre accounted for the Bears’ lone hit in a game where their only other base runners reached via three walks.

 

Pierce (6-11, 2-6) was in Durham on Apr. 29 before returning home to complete the SVL series today.
