8 Straight for Colusa Softball

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa ran its win streak to eight in a row last week by making short work of a young and inexperienced Willows team as they prevailed 15-4 and 19-3 to sweep the Sacramento Valley League season series.

In Willows on Apr. 15, the RedHawks, who have a collective average of .390 this season, pounded out 15 hits including eight doubles in a run-rule shortened contest.

 

Braelyn Santana collected three hits, including two doubles and drove in a pair of runs then additionally put in three innings of work in the circle where she struck out five.

 

Addison Lay doubled and knocked in a run as part of her three-hit day, while Ava Garcia went 2 for 3 with three RBI and tossed two scoreless innings, recording five strikeouts in the process.

 

Caeden Agnew, Zaylah Ramirez, Olivia Nair and Aliah Ramirez and Marlie Berry also doubled in the win.

Following up at home on Apr. 19, Colusa put nine runs on the board in the bottom half of the first inning and never looked back as they capitalized on 12 free passes and seven Honker errors with some timely hitting.

 

Agnew had a big game at the plate going 2 for 4 with a double and four RBI, while Nair ended 2 for 3 and Ramirez had a two-run double.

Garcia and Santana once again combined for the win in the circle, yielding seven hits and logging seven strikeouts.

 

This week Colusa (14-2, 8-0) hosted Corning on Wednesday and is in Susanville for the Lassen Tournament, where it will face the host Grizzlies and Chico today before playing Foothill (Palo Cedro) and Truckee on Saturday.
