Pierce Basketball Holds Awards Ceremony

ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) – Having completed their season back on Feb. 19 with a first round playoff loss to Yreka, the 2024-25 Pierce boys basketball team reconvened one last time for an awards ceremony held on Mar. 6.

Seniors Gavin Guynn and Devin Garcia along with junior JR Figueroa received coach’s awards, while Guynn was also informed he would represent the Bears in the Phil Bryant All-Star Game, the annual showcase for Northern Section basketball players.

Additionally, an honor dubbed the “Oski Bear Award” which is given to the player who best represents Pierce High School and Bear Pride was awarded to Drew Burnum, who despite seeing his senior season cut short by injury remained supportive of his teammates throughout the season.

Yet, Pierce doesn’t just recognize athletic performance, it also acknowledges its scholar athletes, who have a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

Included in that group this year was Burnum, Garcia, Figueroa, Calvin Bair and Thomas Sweet.
